It maybe a good time to look at the freight broker business
Trucking shipments rose 0.9 percent in April, putting the index at its highest level since September 2008.

The American Trucking Association said the advance seasonally adjusted truck tonnage index rose to 110.2 last month. The index has risen 6.5 percent over the last seven months.

Compared with April 2009, the tonnage has risen 9.4 percent, The American Trucking Association said.

Trucking shipment data is often a gauge of overall economic health because truckers haul more than two-thirds of all U.S. manufactured and retail goods.

"Truck tonnage volumes continue to improve at a solid yet sustainable rate," ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello said in a statement. "Tonnage is being boosted by robust manufacturing output and stronger retail sales."

The non-seasonally adjusted index, came in at 111.3 in April, down 4.4 percent from the previous month.
