Arkansas Best Corporation Announces a 78% Increase in First Quarter 2008 Net Income

Wednesday April 23, 3:00 am ET FORT SMITH, Ark., April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Arkansas Best Corporation (Nasdaq: ABFS - News) today announced a 78% increase in first quarter 2008 net income of $8.5 million, or $0.34 per diluted common share, compared to $4.8 million, or $0.19 per diluted common share, in the first quarter of 2007. Arkansas Best's 2008 first quarter revenue grew to $447.5 million from $427.8 million in the first quarter of last year.
